The Safer Sikhs Partnership has adapted national safeguarding guidelines and legislation to support Sikh faith based organisations to improve safeguarding processes. Initial streams of work have focused on child protection, grooming and promoting inclusivity for those with special educational needs and vulnerable adults.
"As Sikhs we have progressed and excelled on many fronts across the world. It is also our moral and religious duty to protect others from harm. In this day and age It is necessary for us to be compliant and coherent with nationally expected standards for safeguarding. I am honoured to be leading on this initiative which is becoming an example of good practice for other faith based organisations too.
It doesn't harm any community to have firm safeguarding procedures in place to protect the most vulnerable."
